It doesn’t happen but once in a “blue moon“, but once in a while everyone eats alone.  Whether it’s due to someone going off on a business trip, eating a late lunch, others in the house having a function that one isn’t invited too-at times we need to feed just ourselves or someone is sick and doesn’t feel up to eating.

Such is the case with yours truly this week.  At least for last night, tonight and tomorow.  My other half is on a business trip-he left late yesterday afternoon.

I enjoyed my evening-I watched the Patricia Cornwell movie “AT RISK” on Lifetime (something I wouldn’t have been able to do with hubby there), I ate my dinner at 4:30 and I slept soundly-who knows, maybe I was the one snoring last night!

Now last night-I was “set“.  I made enough dinner on Saturday evening to have leftovers.  All I did was clean and steam some carrots to go with it and I had a nice meal of dirty rice and veggies.

Again, something I would never have gotten away with if my husband had been home.

But tonight and tomorrow?  This morning?

What I’m pointing out here is-when you‘re all by your lonesome, you can do what you want:  try a new dish that the others in your home wouldn’t touch with the proverbial 10’ pole, eat early (or late), not eat at all or eat while doing some other activity that would normally not pass muster.

I have a lot of writing to do today. I also have a problem with my larder-it’s pretty empty.  For veggies, I’m down to a 5 pound bag of carrots (hence the steamed ones for dinner and the raw ones with some hummus at lunch).  For fruit-I have 3 cutie tangerines and 4 fuji apples.  I’m also down to my last serving of Fiber One cereal.  I’m not about to do some large meal tonight.

If I’m lucky, I’ll finish up the 4 articles that are on the agenda (this being 1!), get in some time on the treadmill and get to my favorite produce store.  It’s raining, so that may have to wait until tomorrow-when I met a friend for our monthly “b-h” breakfast about the lack of paying assignments (okay, make that well-paying).

On Friday-I share my “dinner for 1” meals and recipes, but for now, when you eat alone-do you have a go to meal?  A go to recipe?

As usual, please share!

Love it
