In theory, its wonderful to be able buy new products each season, to pick up a collection of new makeup every couple of months. But its not a reality for everyone.

Mortgages, car payments, groceries and phone bills need to be paid first and in today’s economy, that doesn’t always leave room for too much else.

The good news is that you can still reflect the seasons latest trends just by picking up a few key items.

Here are some ideas that won’t break the bank:

1) An eyeshadow usually costs less then $20. Do a little beauty research and pick up one or two shades that reflect the season. Work them in with your everyday look to keep up to date.

2) Darken your lip color. You’d be amazed at how changing your lipstick color can change your whole look. By using a deeper color (this works best in Fall or Winter seasons) you can make your look a bit more dressy and a bit more sophisticated. Avon has some great lipsticks under $10.

3) Change your eyeliner color. Again a small change but can make a big difference. Instead of your usual brown or black liner, try a plum color or navy blue (both trendy colors for the upcoming season. Smashbox sells a great little Gel Liner Palette that has 10 shades for less then $30 at Sephora.
