My Cat Ben

Each day I learn from my cat Ben
he teaches me over and over again
to be tolerant and think with Zen
he asks for what he wants in life
he’s very vocal each and every night
he tells me when he wants to eat
he’s always there to meet and greet
Ben’s the Cat and all that

He’s careful but very playful and funny
he lays upside down and looks like an Easter bunny
he lays in the sun each time it’s sunny
he’s really my big, cute, cuddly honey

(He teaches me to ask for what I want. What’s the the worse thing that can happen? - I don’t get it but I didn’t have it to begin with so there’s no loss, I move on.)

(He teaches me that some of the best things in life are free!

He manages to play with anything and enjoy it just as much as something I buy for him. He can be amused for hours with a simple piece of paper. So, he teaches me - It doesn’t take a lot of money to have fun.)

(He teaches me that it’s okay to get close even if you have to ease into it.

It’s perfectly fine to show that you ‘re not sure of someone and it’s okay to be cautious but not too cautious. It’s okay if you act crazy every now and then! After all, it’s fun!

My Cat El

I also learn from my little El
by how she sometimes raises hell
to never be inside a shell
to live and learn and be who I am
to not always give a damn
about what others may think
because when you worry about that you can sink

When El was introduced into my life
I was told her personality cuts like a knife
others said she was not nice
but I thought I’d roll the dice
and get to know her and see with my own eyes
before I hated or despised

I do my best not to judge by what others say
because our experiences are part of our way
I was nice to her each and every day
until she finally wanted to play
it didn’t take long
I was not wrong
she’s my best friend
she’s willing to bend
she’s always with me
and it makes me see
it pays not to judge because you never know
how a relationship is going to go
some will be friends who to others are foes.

Everyone experiences things in their own way
and that is why at the end of the day
El is my baby, my kitty, my love
and I thank my lucky stars above
I didn’t listen to any other
and chose to become her human mother
and now it’s a wonderful thing
it makes me want to jump and sing
Thank you El for being you!
I’m happy you‘re my cat - Wooo hooo!!!!

My Dog Jazzy

My baby he is ...his name is Jazz
he’s definitely filled with pizazz
he’s happy, giddy and lovable too
he’s rarely ever down or blue
except when I am... because he takes on my moods
and can’t eat many kinds of foods
but the one thing he loves is grated cheese
because he really takes after me
he’s my little baby - that’s for sure
he’s happy to see me each time I come in the door
whether I walk out for a moment or go to the store
he’s always just as happy I’m here
he makes me feel like he really cares

My baby he is that’s for sure
Each day I love him more and more!

Jazzy teaches me to lighten up and be just like a pup
he’s still peppy at 13 years old
he’s still lovable, fun and bold

(I always say I wish everyone got as excited to see me as he does. My dad got that excited when I went to visit him at his home.)

Pets Are Family

I hope you enjoyed my little story
my pets are my pride and glory
I give thanks for them each and every day
and love them in every way!

This is a story about my pets
but let’s not forget
my hubby
because without him a family we would not be
we all love one another and make each other see
what love is really all about
how to help the other smile instead of pout
our furry children make us laugh all the time
because of them I’ve created this rhyme
we both love them very much
and enjoy each and every little touch
they take up most of the bed at night
if you could see it - it’s certainly a sight
we‘re scrunched in our little spots
because of our little tots
it doesn’t matter - no big deal
we love our children who have tails.
