Well friends, if all goes as planned, hubby and I will be moving one week from today. I’ve been excited all thru the process of finding a house, dealing the realtor and the bank.
We are downsizing to about a 500 sq ft house. Our current house is just about twice that size. The yard is nice. It is fenced for the dogs. The location is perfect for both of us. We couldn’t have come up with a better halfway point between our two jobs. The “new” house (built in 1948) is even the same shade of yellow that I was intending to paint this house.
Now that it’s time to plunk some money down and sign for 30 yrs on the dotted line, I’m getting butterflies in my stomach. Am I doing the right thing? Can I handle living in the city? How are my dogs going to handle the move? Etc etc.
Will post pictures when I have time. We close on Friday morning. I plan to paint after work on Saturday and hopefully we will move in the big furniture and essentials on Sunday.
Sending you good thoughts for your upcoming move, Tulip. Take a deep breath and listen to your inner voice - it will tell you if you‘re doing the right thing. All the best to you!
Thanks Cynthia! The little voice has told me over and over it’s the right thing to do. It’s just hard to leave people and a community I love.

I want to hear the tales of downsizing! I keep trying but the kids keep moving back in

I kind of have the same trouble. They move back in, they move back out, they buy a house, they sell a house, they move to Billings..... Doesn’t matter what those kids do I keep ending up with more and more furniture “stored” at my house.
Will try to do a post Monday about the adventures!

We up-sized tremendously when we moved out to the country but then we downsized when we moved back to Northern VA because houses are so expensive here. However our current house is still bigger than the one we previously had in Alexandria, VA.
I am sure you will like your new digs!
