We have been living in this city for the past 8-1/2 years. We are now planning to move back to my home province. Everyday my husband and I are talking about this move. Honestly, I am looking forward to this move....even though it isn’t set yet. We are open minded about this decision. Something else could come up for us that would keep us here. But I truly hope not.
One of the reasons for our move is my husbands health. But thats another blog post. He wants me and the children to be closer to my family. I have tons of family in my home province.
Another reason would be just being in a different place. New things to see and do...especially for the children. We tend to move around lots. New opportunities. I might drive cab there or maybe not. My husband doesn’t want to drive cab anymore.
This city is supposed to be known as the crime capital of Canada. The news reports on the evening news doesn’t really portray that at all for this city. The neighborhood that we live in is a really bad area. Bad for prostitutes, drug dealers and gangs. We don’t see these people running rampant on the streets. Though a lot of the people we see on the streets probably have some connection to the crime around this area.
Oddly, we feel safe here. You just use common sense. Keep your doors locked. Don’t ignore anyone who says hello to you acknowledge them and say hello. We are not prisoners in our own home. If there are any big groups of people walking down the street by the house. You just wait till they are passed the house. If we happen to be outside usually someone will just say hi and keep going. But being cab drivers helps a lot. The people around here know me and my husband. Because we drive a lot of them to malls, doctor appointments and other places. Our yard is fenced. Our back driveway has a gate to close and latch. The children are not out at dusk. They are inside even before the sun goes down. No one bothers us here. We have a nice house. We have a great landlord. We look after our yard and house. Though many houses in this area are not the same way. We don’t hear gunshots or any kind of noise like that except for the police or fire truck racing by with sirens blaring.
But we don’t want to completely raise the children here. The city we want to move to is a huge city. The area we want to move into is really nice. Good place for children to live and grow.
Now the thought that is on my mind now is getting the house here clean. Purge out the old stuff. Get things ready to move. One step at a time.
Have a Blessed Sunday!
