Love it

2012 was the year that I got serious about exercising.  I had been doing yoga once a week and going to the gym once a week for a while but things changed after I started my new job in May and went from part-time to full-time.

Now I was (and am unfortunately) spending about 50 hours a week sitting on my rear end, which is not healthy!  40 hours a week working and 10 hours a week commuting.

When I found out that my new company has a health benefit in which they will reimburse you up to 50% of fitness-related expenses up to $150 per calendar year, I joined a local studio which has lots of different classes. I branched out from just yoga to Piloxing and Zumba.  I contined going to the gym once a week, and I added walking or bike-riding once a week.

I was pretty consistent about exercising 3 times a week.  But come 2013, I plan to challenge myself further by trying out 2 new classes at my studio:  TRX and Cycle.  I’ve been hesitant to try both but feel the need for a new challenge.

Also, I plan to add weights to my routine.  Currently I don’t do any weights at all which is not good.  I have some 5 lb and 10 lb dumbbells at home.  I will try for at least twice a week.

Now that I have a cubicle I will try to get up and do stretches a couple times a day.  I tend to just work and work for hours without getting up from my desk.

A lot of people say that they don’t have time to exercise but I feel if it’s important to you then you will make the time.  You don’t have to join a gym or go take exercise classes.  You can exercise at home, with or without DVDs, go for a walk, bike-ride, a run, etc.

One important thing about exercising is to find something you enjoy doing and then do it!  Also, variety for me is also important.  I cannot do the same thing each time or I will get bored.

In all honesty, I have to say that I feel pretty good and I think a lot of that comes from exercising.  Believe me, there are many times that I would rather just go home after a long day of work but then I go exercise and even though I may feel tired when I go, I feel energized after I work out.

I wish all of you luck in achieving your fitness goals for 2013!!

Love it

    • You go GIRL!!!!!

      So proud of you.

Did you know that the only thing researchers are convinced that prevents breast cancer is 45 min a day of cardio.

So keep up the good work.

      Happy New Year!

    • Congrats Diane on your continued focus on exercising!

It’s so important to do some sort of exercise I’ve been serious on riding my stationery bike as much as I can. It certainly makes a difference.

      Have a fabulous New Year!
