Well its that time again, time to make the secret family fudge, passed down from generation to generation for Scotland, Its been guarded for as long as I remember kept in vaults and safety deposit boxes and locked away... Children can get the recipe only if they are married, settled and promise never to give the recipe away.

I had to wait till in my 30’s to get it due to divorces.  I actually had to figure a way to steal it from moms safe, when she sent me to get something out I found it and copied it and put it back after that she had to give it to me.

Legend goes, the Blankenship Clan, my grandfathers name would sit in thier cabins in Oklahoma and cook the best Chocolate fudge ever made, the recipe has been strickly guarded for ever and even my ex husbands have begged for the recipe and even tried to get my kids to steal it for themselves.

So its that time of year again, Ive been baking my Rum Cakes, Cream Sherry Cakes, Pumpkin Bread, Cookies, Divinity, Fruit Cake and now.. time for the Fudge.. I had to get it out of the safe..  Its in its own special TOP Secret File.. in the back of the safe, forget the valuables, if the Fudge recipe is ever stollen the family will hang me.. so I have to guard it with my life.

My son is already asking when we are going to cook it.. and I always wait for the coldest night, as is tradition and make the fudge.  In yesteryear the recipe called for Walnuts available in England but in TExas / Oklahoma. Pecans are the nuts of choice.  Ive already started hand shelling my nuts as is called for in the recipe.  No store bought nuts.. Crunch / Crack and shell .. repeat a million times and Ill have enough for one batch.

It is the most delicous Fudge.. I did give some away years ago but could not keep up with requests and its expensive to make.  People that dont like nuts or chocolate love this fudge.

Does your family have a secret recipe ?? Shhhh dont tell.
