    • Great question Connie,

It’s great to hear about your sister’s expertise with women over 40.  Our bodies are different, we have less time, and annoying weight gain and hormonal changes can be mananged and defeated with proper exercise.

I can tell you this much, sit ups will not help you lose the belly fat.  Exercise will help firm your abdominal muscles but your nutrition program will affect the layer of fat covering them.  I am not a nutritionist or a doctor so specific nutrition regarding diabetes is not my expertise.  You must consult your doctor.

However, you will benefit from adding strength training to your walking routine.  You should be doing a weight training routine that focuses on your entire body.  This will help you develop lean muscle throughout your body and will increase your metabolism which will help you burn more body fat.

Your sister may be able to guide you with a program for 2-3 times per week that is sensible, efficient, and effective for you.

Oh of luck with the lottery!estatic

    • Welcome to the fab community! My sister is a personal trainer for people over 40. She has had doctors send 80+ year old people to her gym. She tells them the first thing she wants them to do is throw away those things they can use to grab stuff off the floor. My question about weight loss is about how tummy loss is affected when you have diabetes. I am 60 and don’t like sit ups. I was walking 4 miles 5-6 days a week. I also cut out bread, pasta, etc. I lost 8# in a month and only 2 inches. So I have a plan. I can’t afford lipo so for $1 a week I’ll play powerball. When I win,VOILA, LIPO! Anyway, welcome and have fun. Connie
