I suffer from sciatica and have tried practically everything except surgery and intense decompression therapy.

Has anyone tried decompression therapy where you have a series of sessions over a certain period of time?  If so, how would you rate it on a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being AWFUL, and 10 being AWESOME?

        • I was told they wanted to try disc decompression on me but i do not have insurance and i am not working due to being disabled so have not been able to do it.

i am trying to get social security disability so i will have insurance and can take care of myself.

i have a lot of pain and can not walk more than 20 feet without losing feeling in feet and legs from peripheral neuropathy.I am 46 years old.

keep us informed if you do it.

        • Last year, I had decompression at a chiropractors office.  There are not many chiropractors or professionals that have the decompression machine.

My purpose for starting decompression was because several years ago, I was diagnosed with 4 bulging discs in the low lumbar area, sciatica, advanced degenerative disc disease & fibromyalgia.  I felt that the decompression was worth trying.

Due to an unexpected kidney stone, I had to discontinue the decompression after a few weeks.  Once I was feeling better, I had started a fibromyalgia program.  My medical insurance company would not permit me to see the chiropractor at the same time since I was involved with physical therapy in the fibro program.

I finished the fibro program and I have thought about returning to the chiropractor to begin decompression therapy this year.  I need to check it out because my insurance has changed.

In my opinion, decompression is worth a try, but only go to someone who is an expert in working with decompression.  Give it at least 2-4 weeks to see how your body responds.
          Best wishes!

        • I would try about anything to get rid of the sciatica and burning sensation from the nerves. Are you thinking about trying the decompression therapy?

If given an chance i would.
