      Last year I met one of my best friends and her daughter in Nashville for a long weekend.  They are both over weight but beautiful and photogenic.  I am not photogenic and was more overweight than I thought.  As they shared the pictures they took of me, I was horrified.  I knew I had gained weight but was in denial on how much.  The next month I joined a weight loss sight and signed up for a challenge.  The challenge was to walk 100 miles in one month. I love to walk so it was a challenge that I knew I could accomplish.  Just by counting calories and walking, I lost 22lbs in 5 months.  

      I put my weight loss on hold for Nov and Dec.  I decided not to add that extra stress on to the holidays.  My only goal was to not put on weight....which I managed to do.  After tonight, no more excuses.  I will get back into my routine and loose my remaining 13lbs.

      I encourage everyone who wants to lose some weight to find a method that is easy for them.  .   I learned from my past that stressing over losing weight is counterproductive.  Keep it simple and you may actually enjoy it.

        • First of all, I applaud you! I’m wondering, is the site SparkPeople? I joined them several years ago and lost 50 pounds.  Unfortunately, the stress with school, not keeping track of my food, combined with no exercise during the last 2 semesters, have packed some of the pounds back on. This coming semester, there’s light at the end of the tunnel and I’ll have the time to do what worked for me before. I’m looking forward to it.

        • Congrats to you on your weight loss!!  That’s awesome!

          It is very important to find an exercise that you enjoy doing and then be consistent about it.  I haven’t exercised at all this past week but I plan to start up later this week again.  I need variety but my husband just likes bike-riding and he has actually gone out in this cold weather and everything.  That’s dedication!!  It helps that he has a friend to bike-ride with as well.
