Speaking of decorating- does anyone still use doilies or dresser scarves?
Yes, I use a scarf on my dresser to complement my bedroom decor. Doilies are used in my dining room-I love the Victorian era!
Addendum 1/25/12:I use a scarf on my coffee table in my living room and doilies on the end tables.

when i have visitors around and i want the house all sweet and homely i use doillies, and scarfs, i have stopped using them regularly as i put alot of my on the dresser items into draws. for me it is less to see and therefore less to clean.
I do because they‘re all made by my grandmother & great-grandmother!
A few years ago a former customer made me some lace doilys in various sizes. I do use them thru out but not every room has them.
On my ottoman/ coffee table I sometimes use a runner or throw blanket under the tray I have on it.
I use a table runner on my dresser and I also use mantle scarfs. It protects the dresser and adds color to the mantle
I do on my dresser and even though I have many made by my grandmother, I don’t want to mess them up by putting them on my furniture. I’m an artist so there’s ink or paint or something flying around that magically finds the ‘nicer’ things in my place to ruin.
I have them because i crochet and make them, or at least i did, i havent done any in awhile. But i love crochet cotton thread, dont like yarn, it is a dying art i guess.
