How long can you keep meat in the freezer?

    • When I went thru my freezer there was a piece of boneless chicken in a baggy labeled 4/2012. It still looks good no freezer burn, but it’s several months old.

    • I’d go for it. I keep meat in the freezer up to a year, sometimes even a little bit more. We buy half a lamb in fall and eat it through the year. Never had a problem.

    • As long as it’s not freezer burned, it’s still good.  Well wrapped meat will keep indefinitely in the freezer.  

      A little freezer burn won’t hurt you either, it just tastes yucky.  If it’s expensive meat, or I really want to eat it, I just slice off the freezer burnt part.  

      I get a deer every two years, so I sometimes have venison up to two years old in the freezer (just found some tonight in fact).
