    • I always helped with household chores, but didn’t get an allowance. My parents paid for my stuff whenever we shopped.  However, I did get some $ for good grades.

No allowance for my daughter too. She always got plenty of $ for good grades and on special occasions.

    • I did, and my kids all had chores and rewards.

I think its a good system for kids to grow up with discipline and learn that you have to work for everything in life.

    • I grew up on a farm and us kids were the only hired hands dad had. We didn’t get an allowance, but we got money when we needed it.  Good grades were expected, so there were no rewards for that.

Pretty much the same story with my own kids, although I think I did offer them money for any A’s that appeared on their report card.  My kids are smart, but never cared about school.  Their grades weren’t bad, but they didn’t cost me much either.
